Forensic Psychiatry

Dr. Cheryl D. Wills is a distinguished psychiatrist with over 25 years of specialization in adult, child, and forensic psychiatry. She has received national recognition and numerous awards for her significant contributions to the field. Dr. Wills has developed and conducted seminars on both national and international platforms and has provided consultancy services to private corporations and public sector organizations, including the U.S. Department of Justice and human rights groups. Additionally, she has served two elected terms on the American Psychiatric Association Board of Trustees.

Dr. Wills’ experience serving as a board member in professional groups such as the American Psychiatric Association and American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law, her involvement in the American College of Surgeons ISAVE (Improving Social Determinants to Attenuate Violence) group, the Academy of Medicine of Northeastern Ohio, her service on numerous committees in organized healthcare, as well as her expertise and interest in diversity, inclusion, and equity topics makes her uniquely qualified for your corporate Board.

Dr. Wills is an expert in psychiatric and legal intersections, contributing to numerous programs and publications. She provides workshops, consultation, coaching, and technical assistance on various topics, including compliance, risk management, medico-legal matters, employee wellness and retention, crisis intervention, mental health, trauma, disability, fitness for duty, workplace reentry, and public safety. She also consults first responders, including law enforcement officers.

Dr. Wills was a member of the American Psychiatric Association Board of Trustees and received its Special Presidential Commendation for her work as Chair of its Presidential Task Force on Structural Racism throughout Psychiatry. She is regarded as a skilled clinician, teacher, expert witness, advocate, leader and strategist.
